What Is Love?

February 15, 2011

What is Love?

It’s not being someone you’re not.  Love cannot be bought, it can not be borrowed.  Love is not cheap, love is not free.  You can not love without understanding, you cannot love and still hate.  While we are not perfect Love is.  Love unites, never divides.  Love is pure, holy, selfless.  Love is being you even when someone is looking.

Love is hard…but it’s worth it! Read the rest of this entry »

The Home Stretch

May 29, 2010

With only 15 days till the wedding I’m getting a little anxious.  I’ve been ready and talking to everyone about marriage, family, and having our first house.  I’ve been reading lots of good books too!  While I know they are not the answer to a good marriage, that takes prayer, love, time, worship, seeking God and much more.  They are worth the read!  I can’t wait to get married, move into our house and continue our lives together.  This is a huge time in our lives and we are grateful to have friends and family who care and want to see us succeed in life, love and ministry together!

Here are a few of the books Kel and I are reading: Read the rest of this entry »

24 Days

May 20, 2010

24 Days to go!

We are making some final decisions and getting lots of details finished. I am so excited that the wedding is getting close, but I would not like to plan another one. It is exciting but so stressful. I am ready to be in Hawaii and relax!

We have sent out invitations

Working on reception centerpieces

Flowers are finished for the rehearsal dinner

Both rings are ready to be sized

Music is chosen, meeting with our dj next week

I have a dress fitting on May 25

Have to meet with the Cake Lady

Plane tickets are ready!!

We have hotel reservations for the wedding night

We have to go and get our marriage liscence when Robert gets into St. Louis

Bachelor/Bachelorette parties being planned

The day after we get back from our Honeymoon we will move into our new house on campus at JBC. There is a lot to move in, but it will feel like home in no time. It is crazy to me that for the past year and a half we have been waiting for June to get here and now it is so close. Honestly I’ve felt like it would never get here. But it has!! Can remember counting down from like 14 months, or 9 months until the wedding, now it is 24 days. Robert won’t be in St. Louis until June 6. Don’t like that we have to be a part for 2 weeks, since we see each other everyday. I am looking forward to spending time with my family and friends though.

Hope that everyone has a wonderful time at OUR WEDDING, and we are excited that everyone gets to spend OUR DAY with us! It is a day about Robert and I, a way for us to start our life together. It’s going to be a party!!

Update

April 19, 2010

We both have our wedding bands! Robert’s is still at the jewlers waiting to be sized when he comes home for the wedding. Mine is currently sitting in Robert’s room…and he won’t let me see it! I got to try it on for about 5 minutes while at the jewlers and I made it to the car and then he took it! But both rings are awesome, mine is gorgeous and Robert’s is manly. =) Inviations went out, send back your RSVP ASAP. Only about 8 weeks to go. Friday we have a trip planned to our travel agent. I cannot believe that the due date is already to for paying off the rest of our trip to Hawaii!!! We are very excited about going there, neither of us have been there. But Katy (my Maid of Honor) has been there and she says we will love it. I am looking forward to going home on May 19. Robert won’t be in St. Louis until the Sunday before the wedding, but I am looking forward to dress fittings and hanging out with my bridesmaids before the big day! Angel, our photographer has made her travel plans to come in and Kristin, our wedding coordinator and her husband Josh, an usher are coming in the Thursday before. We are getting very excited!

Countdown

April 7, 2010

Wedding fever has set in! With 67 days to go there’s not much time left, and still so much left to do. We printed, stuffed and mailed out invitations yesterday, we have 12 more that still need to be sent but we didn’t have the addresses. So be looking for you invite in the mail soon! Groomsmen gifts are bought, as well as some more fun decorations. We heard from Johnson last night about married housing- please pray for favor  as we are hoping for a move in date of June 23!

Kellee had a bridal shower on March 28, when she went home for Spring Break. She had a really great time, getting to see all of her family and friends. We were blessed with tons of gifts as well as gift cards and money. Thanks to everyone who came, our home will be filled with your gifts!

Honeymoon

February 20, 2010

Today we went to a couple travel agents to look at some pricing for our honeymoon. We ended up at one close to downtown Knoxville, it is called JA Travel. We picked our dates for our trip. We also looked at airline tickets, hotels and resorts and a few excursions to go on while we are there. Almost everything is booked and ready to go!!! We are for the most part right at our budget, which is really good. We are very excited-and Kellee is ready to go right now! So here are some of our details–

We are leaving June 14 and will be back in St. Louis on the 22.

We are going to the island of Oahu. We will be staying at the Outrigger on the Beach Resort which is on Waikiki Beach.

We already have plans to visit Pearl Harbor and go to a Luau on the beach.

For more about our honeymoon plans as well as information about donating a gift to our honeymoon check out our Honeymoon page!

Moving Right Along

February 7, 2010

Today we got almost all of the stuff for our reception decorations. We are going to have unique centerpieces for all the tables. They are going to look awesome! We also got flowers for the wedding party table, and the cake table. We are still working out the details on a really cool thing for all the guests, but it should be done soon. Hopefully so will the rest of the planning!

Wedding Bands

February 2, 2010

This weekend we got some wedding plans finished. On Saturday we went to Jared and picked out my wedding band. It is not what we had in mind at first-but when I saw it I fell in love with it. It is gorgeous and it is extremely unique looking. It goes well with the princess cut diamond on my engagement ring. The band has small circle and princess cut diamonds around the top. I love it! We also ordered Robert’s wedding band over Christmas Break. Plans are coming along!

All You REALLY Need is Love

January 21, 2010

Tonight we were putting together the song list for the reception, Which songs to play for our first dance, the money song, the bridal party song and so forth…and we came across this. It made us laugh because it’s so true. We are having a lot of fun planning out the details of the wedding (since the hardest parts are over, and the day’s getting close) but we’re trying not to get so wrapped up in planning that we forget why we are getting married in the first place! We thought this song was really funny, and definitely the truth!

So you say you wanna tie the knot
And you’re askin’ me if I think that the two of you have got
What it takes to make it work
Well one thing’s for sure
All you really need is love

Let me say I’m happy for you both
And here’s a little something that the two of you should know
If you want to do it right
Just take my advice
All you really need is love

And a license and a blood test and a bunch of invitations
A minister, a white dress, and of course a congregation
And flowers and music and candles and cake
And a bunch of rice for folks to throw as you drive away

Now what’s that expression on your face
You’re lookin’ kind of pale, is everything OK
Don’t worry you’ll be fine
If you just keep in mind
All you really need is love

And bridesmaids and groomsmen and a wedding coordinator
And food for the reception, you’ll need someone to cater
Did I forget to mention it’ll take a couple rings
And of course a P.A. system if you’re wantin’ me to sing

Now you look so happy you could cry
And that explains the tear drops I see wellin’ in your eyes
Don’t worry you’ll be fine
If you just keep in mind
All you really need is love

I’m sure I’m tellin’ you something you already knew
All you really need is love
